Law Offices of John S. Chou, M.D. & Associates

Frequently, our office receives complaints from patients that their healthcare providers refuse to provide them copies of their medical records.  Sometimes, patients even complain that their medical records have been altered.  To provide better understanding on patients and healthcare providers' rights and responsibilities, we have created this resources section.  Hopefully, this will facilitate better relationship between patients and their healthcare providers.

Another common issue raised by patients is the failure to provide proper informed consent before surgery or procedures.  Even though this is primarily the responsibility of the physician, we believe patients should proactively determine all significant risks, benefits, and alternatives before undergoing the procedure and signing the consent form.

We have also provided other information frequently requested by patients or healthcare providers in addressing their concerns.  Through this section, we hope to further educate healthcare providers regarding updated changes in healthcare legal issues.  Hopefully, healthcare providers can avoid legal pitfalls by complying with new regulations.

Dr. Chou's latest book "Basic Preventive Laws for Physicians" can be purchased at our office for $40, or at www.amazon.com or  www.BookstandPublishing.com/m/john.

There is also a list of various useful resources that you can obtain through the internet or our office for your own use.
